Connecting Your Instagram Account to the DoorDash Merchant Portal

Merchants can connect their Instagram account to the DoorDash Merchant Portal to add Instagram photos to their menu. This helps fill photo gaps and improve how your store appears to customers — without requiring manual photo uploads.

To connect your Instagram account with DoorDash, you must have access to both the DoorDash Merchant Portal and your business's Instagram account.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal

  2. Go to Settings, then select Brand

  3. Select Connect Instagram and log in to your Instagram account to authorize access

  4. Once approved, your Instagram account will appear as 'Connected'

To remove access, select Disconnect at any time. Remember, your Instagram account must be set up as a Business Account to connect with DoorDash.

Once your Instagram account is connected, you can access your content in the Merchant Portal.

Where can I access my photos and videos?

You can access any approved photos and videos in two locations in the Merchant Portal

In the media hub

The media hub is the popup window that allows you to select photos and videos to upload to your menu, settings, and more.

In the Video Library

The Video library is where all of your video content from Instagram will be imported to and reviewed.

It allows you to tag your videos with menu items, manage them across platforms, and track how they drive sales on DoorDash.

Adding images to menu items

To add an Instagram image to your menu: 

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal

  2. Click on Menu Manager on the left-hand navigation

  3. Tap the item you want to add photos to

  4. Select Add a photo 

  5. Filter the source to Instagram on the left-hand side to choose your image

  6. Use the Photo Editor to adjust your picture (if necessary)

  7. Tap Save

Using images or videos for headers

To use an Instagram video or photo for your header, follow these steps:

  1. In the Merchant Portal, on the right-hand side, select Settings

  2. Tap Store Settings

  3. Under "Brand Assets" click on Header Video

  4. Select the Edit button to open your content library 

  5. Choose the video or image you want as your header

  6. Click Save

Once submitted, it will take between 1-3 business days for changes to show on your store page. 

Can I edit Instagram photos?

Yes, you can also edit Instagram photos added by DoorDash using the Photo Editor in the Merchant Portal and Business Manager App. In the Photo Editor, you can: 

  • Improve brightness, color, and sharpness

  • Clean up your image background

  • Preview your image before submission

Editing your photos with the Photo Editor helps you more closely align your images to DoorDash's photo guidelines and avoid potential rejection.

How does the Photo Editor improve my photos?

Using the Photo Editor helps your Instagram photos align with DoorDash's photo guidelines, improving your chances of approval. 

Merchants can use the Photo Editor to:  

  • Adjust brightness, contrast, or saturation

  • Crop images or change the aspect ratio

  • Clean up backgrounds or remove overlays

What are DoorDash automatic photo updates?

DoorDash automatic photo updates allow DoorDash to add content on your behalf. With automatic photo updates:

  • DoorDash may use approved Instagram photos to fill photo gaps on your menu

  • Your store page may appear more complete and visually consistent to customers

  • You'll receive an email notification when Instagram photos are added to your menu

How does DoorDash select Instagram photos for my menu?

DoorDash uses automated systems to match Instagram photos to menu items based on factors like photo quality and available metadata (such as captions). 

All photos, DoorDash chosen or merchant edited, must also pass DoorDash's standard photo moderation process before appearing on your menu. For detailed approval guidelines, see DoorDash photo requirements.

Can I replace or remove Instagram photos after they're added?

Yes. You're always in control of your menu photos:

  • Replace with your own photo: Uploading a photo for a menu item to replace DoorDash-added photos

  • Remove access entirely: Disconnect your Instagram account at any time by contacting Merchant Support.

To remove Yelp photos specifically: 

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal

  2. Click on the photo sourced from Yelp

  3. Enlarge the image and click on the info icon

  4. Tap Request Menu Help

  5. Fill out the required information and add details in the provided box

  6. Select when you want the update to take effect

  7. Click Submit

Can I use pictures from my DoorDash photoshoot on my Instagram?

Yes, the copies you receive from your DoorDash free photoshoot* can be used on your Instagram. These images closely follow DoorDash photo guidelines and are less likely to be rejected. 

*Premier Merchants who have not yet completed their DoorDash complimentary photoshoot are eligible to receive a $200 payment to cover food prep, setup, or other costs after completing their complimentary photoshoot. Premier Merchants that are outside of the DoorDash photoshoot service area are eligible to receive the $200 payment after uploading 10 approved photos to their menus. If a Premier Merchant has previously received a $300 incentive payment from DoorDash for uploading menu photos, they will not be eligible for this $200 payment. Amount of payments are inclusive of any applicable taxes.
