Does DoorDash offer free professional photoshoots?

Yes. DoorDash can arrange a professional photographer to visit your restaurant and photograph select menu items for use on your DoorDash menu.¹

If you don't have a lot of menu photos, you may see a Book a Free Photoshoot button on an item in the Merchant Portal.

During booking, make sure to include:

  • A day-of point of contact

  • A cell phone number (not the business phone)

  • A valid email address

This allows us or the photographer to reach you if anything changes.

Who qualifies for a free DoorDash photoshoot?

Free photoshoots are available to most DoorDash restaurant partners. If your menu doesn't already include professional images, you'll see the option to book in your Merchant Portal. This offering is subject to availability in your area.

If you're on the Premier plan, you also receive a $200 credit to help cover additional photography-related costs.²

What costs am I responsible for?

As the merchant, you're responsible for:

  • The cost of the food being photographed

  • Any labor required to prepare those items

DoorDash covers:

  • The professional photographer

  • Uploading the images to your DoorDash menu

Premier plan members can use their $200 credit to help cover food, plating, or prep costs during their free DoorDash photoshoot. You don't need to do anything to redeem it—it's automatically applied once your photoshoot is booked.

How many menu items can be photographed?

Each photoshoot includes:

  • A 1.5-hour session

  • Up to 20 menu items

  • One header image

You choose which items to photograph. We recommend selecting your most-ordered dishes.

If you'd like additional photos beyond those included, you can arrange them directly with the photographer. Any extra photos are not covered by DoorDash.

Can I schedule more than one photoshoot?

DoorDash covers a single 1.5-hour photoshoot per arrangement. Additional sessions or extended time can be coordinated with the photography vendor, but are outside of DoorDash's coverage.

Can I get copies of my photos?

Yes. You'll receive copies of your photos to upload to your menu once they're available. If you haven't received them, contact the Support team, and we'll help track them down.

Can I use my DoorDash photos on other websites?

Yes — with one exception. You may use the photos on:

Please don't use these images on other third-party delivery platforms.³

How should I prepare for my photoshoot?

To help your photoshoot run smoothly and avoid delays, we recommend the following preparation steps:

  • Choose items in advance: Select your most-ordered dishes or items that don't yet have photos

  • Prepare your space: Make sure the area where food will be plated and photographed is clean and organized

  • Be ready to plate: The photographer will photograph dishes as they're presented, so have ingredients and staff ready at the scheduled time

  • Plan for specials, if relevant: If you offer lunch, happy hour, or seasonal items, you may want to include those dishes in the shoot, as long as they fit within the photo limit

What do I do if my photographer doesn't show up?

Occasionally, a photographer may need to cancel or may not be able to reach the restaurant. If this happens:

  • Submit a Support case

  • Include a phone number and email where you can be reached. We'll help reschedule your shoot

Why don't I see my photos on my menu?

It can take up to seven days after your shoot for images to be delivered and uploaded.

If it's been more than a week:

  • Submit a Support case

  • We'll investigate and add the photos to your menu once we've received the files

What do I do if I'm not happy with my photos?

If the photos didn't meet expectations, we can help.

Submit a Support case and let us know what didn't work. We'll flag the issue with the vendor and help arrange another shoot if appropriate.

Where is my photoshoot request confirmation?

After submitting a photoshoot request:

  1. You should receive an email asking for your availability

  2. After a photographer is assigned, you'll receive a confirmation email with the date and time

If you didn't receive either email:

  • Check your spam folder

  • Submit a Support case so we can verify your contact details

Why can't I download my photos or open attachments?

Photos are typically sent as a ZIP file, which most phones can't open.

On a PC:

  1. Right-click the ZIP file

  2. Select Extract All

  3. Choose a destination and click Extract

On a Mac:

  • Double-click the ZIP file to unzip it

If you don't have access to a computer, let us know. We can share the images via Google Drive instead.
