What is an optimization score?

Your optimization score is an estimate of your store's sales potential on DoorDash.

It's based on how many recommended actions you've completed to optimize your business, such as improving menu setup or responding to customer reviews. Each completed action contributes points toward your total score.

A higher optimization score means your store is better positioned to perform at its full potential on DoorDash, which can support stronger visibility and sales opportunities.

How do I view my optimization score?

Mx - Portal - Optimization Score

To view your optimization score, log in to the Merchant Portal and go to your store dashboard. Your optimization score appears at the top of the dashboard.

Your score shows

  • Your estimated sales potential out of 100%

  • Your competitive rating

  • An estimate of additional monthly sales potential based on completed actions

Select View Details under your score to open the Optimization Score page.

From there, you can

  • See a breakdown of your score

  • Review recent changes based on actions you’ve completed

  • View prioritized recommendations for improving your score

Some recommended actions in the dashboard may include indicators that show how many points you can earn by completing them.

How is the optimization score calculated?

Your optimization score is calculated based on the actions you complete from your store's personalized list of recommendations.

Here's how it works:

  • Each recommended action has a specific point value

  • Your score reflects the number of completed actions compared to the total available actions for your store

  • Actions are weighted based on how much they help optimize sales potential and/or visibility

Some actions update your score in real time, while others may take longer to validate before they're reflected in your total. The total score goal is 100%.

How do I increase my optimization score?

You can increase your optimization score by completing the recommended actions shown in your Merchant Portal. These recommendations are unique to your store and may be based on:

  • Ongoing operational performance

  • Menu and logistical setup

  • Additional DoorDash services enabled on your account

Your available optimization points can change over time. For example, if you add a new service after your initial setup, you may unlock new actions — and new points — that can help further grow your sales and visibility.

You can find optimization recommendations in two places:

  1. On your Merchant Portal dashboard, where suggestions appear after you log in

  2. On the Optimization Score page, which you can access by selecting View Details under your score

Who can see the optimization score?

Optimization score is available at the store level and is currently visible only to the following Merchant Portal user roles:

  • Business Group Admin

  • Business Admin

  • Manager

If you manage more than one store, each store will have its own unique optimization score, based on its individual sales potential and setup.

Because not all user roles have access to every recommended action, the total points shown for available actions may not always add up to your store's full optimization score.

Why did my optimization score go down?

Your optimization score can decrease if:

  • A performance target (such as Order Accuracy) is missed

  • A previously completed action is removed or expires (for example, when a promotion ends)

When this happens, the related item may reappear in your list of recommendations, allowing you to complete the action again and earn those points back.

How is the competitive rating determined?

Your competitive rating compares your optimization score to similar merchants on DoorDash, based on factors like:

  • Business size

  • Tenure on DoorDash

  • Cuisine type

  • Location

Ratings are shown as Low, Medium, or High, and indicate how optimized your store is for growth compared to peers.

A higher competitive rating means your business is generally better positioned for sales potential on DoorDash relative to similar merchants.
