How does Online Ordering work with Google Food Ordering?

For restaurants with Online Ordering included in their DoorDash plan:

  • Your Google Business Profile displays a prominent Order online button

  • Customers can browse your Online Ordering menu and add items to their cart

  • Checkout and payment happen directly on Google

  • Orders are processed just like other Online Ordering orders

Because these orders flow through Online Ordering, they are commission-free* for your business.

How do I activate Online Ordering on Order with Google?

This integration is enabled by default for merchants with:

  • Online Ordering included in their DoorDash plan, and

  • An active Google Business Profile

If you don't have a Google Business Profile yet, you can create one for free.

How do I set Online Ordering as my preferred provider?

Setting Online Ordering as your preferred provider helps customers see that your business recommends ordering directly from you.

To set Online Ordering as preferred:

  1. Sign in to your Google Business Profile

  2. Navigate to Edit profile, then Online ordering

  3. Select your Online Ordering link

  4. Mark it as Preferred by this business

  5. Save your changes

Once enabled, customers may see a Preferred by this business label when clicking Order online.

What's the cost of the Online Ordering integration?

The integration is free, with 0% commission* on all orders.

What customer data will I get from Online Ordering?

Because these orders originate on Google (not your website):

  • You won't receive customer email addresses or phone numbers

  • You'll receive the required order details to fulfill the order

  • If needed, DoorDash provides a masked phone number to contact the customer

    • Active until 30 minutes after delivery

Customer information may only be used for order fulfillment.

What information will the customer see?

Customers can view:

  • Your restaurant name

  • Menu

  • Store details

  • Order and payment confirmation
